Though the end of the COVID-19 pandemic is unclear, our team at Valor Hospitality Partners believes that there are still plenty of things to celebrate, smile, and be positive about.
Embracing a new normal can be daunting but we think that it’s how you choose to embrace these changes that will determine your outcome in the future ahead.
Whether it’s doing good in your local community, coming together as a team for a common goal, or adapting to a new way of doing things, positively acting can help you take your mind off of the doom and gloom of the media, even just for a minute.
We’ve asked our friends from around the world to share their stories of philanthropy and embracing a new normal. Read on to be inspired by their stories and add a little good news to your day.

1. Growing for Good: Helping Families Learn and Grow
The Lynedoch Valley Collaborative, a partnership between Spier and the Sustainability Institute (SI), has been providing weekly food, hygiene, and education relief packs to almost 400 vulnerable families in the Lynedoch Valley (where both Spier and the SI are located) every week since the start of lockdown. Each week the boxes, which feed between 1,800 to 2,000 family members, have included fresh vegetables and eggs, soup made by the Spier chefs, and staples. They also contain seedlings for families to grow their own greens at home and customized education packs for each child depending on their age and needs. 5. Meeting in the Middle
With strict lockdown guidelines in South Africa, it makes it hard to meet potential clients. Michael Pownall, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Valor Hospitality Partners, applied for a permit that would allow him to go 545 km away from Cape Town to have some client meetings. Pictured above is Michael’s office space for the day.
We want to know, How is your team embracing and adapting to change during this period?
