In 1995 – Euan McGlashan was recruited as General Manager of the yet to be built Cape Grace Hotel in the Cape Town Waterfront. Euan and his team oversaw the development and then opened the hotel on time, on budget to critical acclaim. Cape Grace was soon a multiple award winner and not only an instant market leader but amongst the most successful and profitable hotels in the Southern Hemisphere. Cape Grace became world-renowned and in 2000 was voted Best Hotel in the World by Condé Nast Traveler Magazine.
Euan was recruited to the U.S. in late 2000 and oversaw a 4 year dramatic turnaround of the once troubled Barnsley Gardens Resort in Georgia, improving EBITDA by $12MM over that period. Barnsley Gardens went on to be an annual multiple award winner, culminating in being recognized as a Top 3 Best Small Resort in North America.
Mr. McGlashan subsequently joined Minneapolis-based Wischermann Partners, where he oversaw the project development of six Starwood-branded properties, including three new Sheraton prototypes, a Westin prototype, a Luxury Collection and the seventh Aloft.
Following the successful sale of Barnsley Gardens, Euan was recruited to oversee the roll-out of the boutique, stylish and industry changing DAKOTA Hotel brand in the U.K., Europe and the U.S. In addition – he also oversaw the renovation and turnaround of the Columbus Hotel in Monte Carlo, Monaco. Euan successfully developed and opened 4 Dakota Hotels before deciding to remain living in the USA.

This included completion of the Sheraton Four Points in Biloxi, Mississippi, Starwood’s first and only hotel in Mississippi, opening during the BP Oil Spill disaster yet quickly becoming both profitable and a top Starwood performer.

Today, Valor Global operates 30 hotels between the USA and U.K.
